We are thrilled to share the exciting news of the successful completion or our first-ever Nepal Spine Foundation fundraising trek to Everest Basecamp! This remarkable journey was made possible by the dedication and spirit of our trekkers, who embarked on this challenging expedition for a great cause.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Jiban Ghimire, a valued board member, collaborator, and trekking partner. His expertise and commitment were instrumental in making this trek a reality.
We extend our warmest thanks to the 2024 trekkers who fearlessly embraced the Himalayan trails: Ciara Harraher, Geoffrey Andrews, Philip Scourfield, Thomas Steffen, Mike Maxwell, Alex Nielsen and William Ganz.
“The Everest Base Camp Trek with the Nepal Spine Foundation was truly a once in a lifetime adventure. Even more impressive than the landscape was the caliber of people in the group. I can’t imagine being in a more dramatic place with a more engaging and dynamic set of personalities. I cherish our conversations and ideas as much as the trek itself.”
– William Ganz
“Utterly professionally well prepared trek completed with expertise. Highly recommended.”
– Philip Scourfield
“I am full of admiration for the NSF and its supporters. These selfless neurosurgeons travel at their own expense to perform needed surgeries in Nepal, while teaching modern surgical techniques to the very capable Nepalese surgeons. Meanwhile, the meager funds that they raise go directly towards the purchase of modern medical equipment. Zero money is diverted to overhead or administration. For those who care about delivering health care for the poor, I cannot imagine an organization that delivers better bang for the buck.”
– Mike Maxwell
“If in your life you have the chance to put yourself in the path of beauty, you should always take that opportunity. For me, visiting Nepal reminded me of this as every day you are thrust into this awe-inspiring landscape from the moment you open your eyes. You cannot help but be inspired by it! The act of trekking in the Himalayas requires stamina and concentration which although exhausting at times, is profoundly meditative. Furthermore, the team of guides, porters and all the Nepali people you meet are so gracious and kind. I hope I can return soon!”
